Courage is defined as "the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, and pain without fear; bravery."  Think about the most courageous thing you've ever done. For most of us, it will take a minute or two to come up with an example. Those examples may range from changing jobs to moving to a new city. We pray that your examples are traditional and expected life events.

Unfortunately for Alex Pancake, his courageous life moments are tragic beyond measure. Alex, a born and raised Reno native, is one of the bravest eleven year old boys around. When you review his life experiences, his courageous moments come swiftly and are numerous; he has witnessed abuse beyond measure. He was hit and dragged by a car last year and faces numerous surgeries, and now, he was required to show tremendous courage by calling 911 while witnessing his mother take her last breaths as a result of his father's action. This boy has experienced more than any person, let alone a child, should ever witness, and he needs our help to repair his broken heart.

Please know that Alex is safe, warm and in a loving home with extended maternal family members. This family has provided him a room of his own, warm nutritious meals, new clothes, therapy, a great school... a new life. We would love to help them continue their awesome mission by providing funding for his much needed therapy, ongoing medical care and specialized schooling.

If possible, please make a donation to help his new family provide the support he needs. No amount is too small.  In the very least, take a moment and pray for Alex. If you aren't religious, send positive energy into the universe. Your part could also be sharing this message far and wide.

Abuse is never the answer and our hope is to help this little boy recover from the years of abuse he has experienced and witnessed. Thank you for your support.
