Building Strong Men non-profit organization was established during the first quarter of 2012. The founder/ director of the goals and strategies of the program strictly wanted to concentrate on the problems, societal pressures, and day to day challenges that adolescent males, young men, and adults, especially those of ethnic decent and from single parents’ households experienced. This organization is a church based group that has adopted the Judge Mathis mentor ship model to mentor young men and assist those individuals with their homework, problems at school or home and working with parents to help create a better life for all individuals involved in the program.

In the past two years we have conducted bi-weekly meetings, seminars, field trips, and training sessions on topics that included: bullying; anger management; peer pressure; professional careers; drug and alcohol awareness. We have worked with academia and professionals across the board to create proper educational programs that would help parents, and students. We have created 9 program goals that cover a wide variety of life skills.  These goals are listed below:

GOALS OF THE ORGANIZATION

Achievement of the following goals will occur through collaborating with community and government organizations, in addition to working with profit and non-profit groups.

• Assist in building self-esteem, leadership skills, improving overall personal development, and health.
• To assist in substance abuse counseling to include, but not limited to alcohol, drugs, and narcotics.
• To assist in providing education to include: mentoring, tutoring, cultural awareness, fatherhood, family responsibilities.
• Assist individuals in acquiring employment counseling, skill identification, jobs, vocation assistance, resume writing.
• Assist in entrepreneur skills development.
• Assist in acquiring legal counseling, in the areas of family, divorce, and child support.
• Assist in acquiring financial counseling in the areas of household budgeting, personal finances, credit counseling.
• Continuously promote spiritual counseling: Individual, Family and God.
• Ensure social counseling in the area of anger management, conflict resolution, stress management, resource referral.
