Shelby Adams, a beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin and friend, was peacefully set free from her battle with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the comfort of her home, in the arms of her mother and sister, and surrounded by the love of family and friends.
In spite of crushing adversity, Shelby was a fierce advocate for patient rights and research. Even while she fought valiantly for her own life, Shelby always thought of others and worked tirelessly as a lead volunteer for the Nevada Patient Advocacy Foundation (NPAF) as well as the Congressional District 2 Lead for the American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network to guide legislation for cancer treatment and research. In her community, she also made an impact on those newly diagnosed with cancer through her homemade "Chemo Kits" and support.
The only thing that could keep Shelby away from her advocacy was living it up with her family and friends. She loved the people around her fiercely and made time to create lasting memories with each of them. Shelby will be remembered for her unbridled enthusiasm for life, her love of concerts and all things Rick Springfield, dancing and singing with a glass of good red in her hand. Her generosity, easy laughter and conversation frequently connected friends who would have otherwise never been, expanding her reach and impact far beyond what she would ever know. She will be dearly missed.
Shelby's family and friends will host a celebration of Shelby's life... Please help us to make this time special in honoring Shelby and giving peace and closure to those who loved her.
We will share exact details of Shelby's memorial arrangements as soon as they are available.
