This campaign will benefit the family of Tristin Hurley who passed away in early March.
Below is a short summary of who Tristin was and his impact on the community:
From the Reno Gazette-Journal’s Siobhan McAndrew
“His story about his customized wheelchair being stolen from outside its locked spot of his mother’s second-story apartment last week captivated the community.
But following a fall and surgery just days later, the Shaw Middle School student died on Sunday, March 6th 2016.
Tristin was born with Osteogenesis imperfecta. The genetic disorder, commonly called brittle bone disease, caused Tristin to break bones easily.
His mom said Tristin didn’t let his body hold him back.
“He loved to always push the envelope and just lived life to the fullest.”
“He was always, always smiling,” she said.
“He was a brave boy, who loved life so much,” she said. “He had so much more to do, he was our everything.”
How you can help the #Bighorns give back to this family in need:
What: Fundraiser Night to benefit the family of Tristin Hurley
When: April 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
-Final home game of the regular season vs. the Bakersfield Jam
Why: To give back to the loved ones of Tristin and to help his family and friends
The plan: The Bighorns will provide special $10 rate on corner tickets (these are usually $12 on game day) and would donate $5 of each ticket to Tristin’s family.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 by April 1st and to potentially do more given the Bighorns’ success and chance at a postseason home series.
