My name is Michelle and last week, while my son was at school playing an activity in PE called "Prison Ball" he caught the ball and landed on the ground. Another student who was also going after the ball, fell on his head and shoved his face into the concrete. My son sustained a lacerated lip and two front busted teeth, I asked the school if there was financial help. They said it was an accident and they are not financially responsible and because of the privacy acts, cannot get other students family involved. I am a Single Mom working full time to support a household and two children, I did not know where to turn. I turned to the News Media, and that did not go the way I was anticipating. I end up receiving threats and being bashed because they edited the story and said I was trying to ban sports from the school. That was not my anticipation, the focus was to make parents aware, that even if your child has an accident at school while they are in their care we are still responsible for medical bills.
With this being said, I took my son to the dentist. He has root damage and has to have his two front teeth removed and get root canals to be followed by crowns. Right now he has an infection in his mouth and he is on antibiotics, they want me to get him in for the root canals after he completes his medication. I do have medical and dental insurance on my children, after my insurance it is going to cost me $1158.00 for his root canals and an additional $1230.00 for the crowns as long as everything goes well. Total expense out of my pocket after insurance is $2388.00, and I do not have that kind of money
My goal with this campaign is to raise as much money as possible to help get my son's two front teeth replaced. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping me to help my son get his smile back.
